We hold tight to so many things in this life, from the truly insignificant to the supremely vital. A hairstyle from 20 years ago. An outfit that you will never fit into again. Your children as they were when they needed you. The love you have for your family. And if we are lucky, the hope that things will get better, that ourselves and our loves ones will be happy, healthy and safe.
Some things are important to keep, and if you are objective, it is not too difficult to tell what they are. It’s knowing the things we should release that gets tricky. It’s not just the superficial trappings of ego and objects which we think bring us status. It can be long-held beliefs and prejudices. It can be grudges and regrets. Things that, when kept, can perpetuate tunnel vision, mistrust, depression, and guilt. Thoughts that can inhibit the ability to enjoy life unconstrained. Or a little less constrained.
Take a moment today to choose something to let go. It’s not the same as giving up, like giving up chocolate for Lent, or carbs for weight loss. Think of it as getting out of your own way. Freeing up your energy for better pursuits. Releasing one of the strings that holds your soul down. #cuttingthecord#lettinggo#release#nostrings#dontneeditanymore#noregrets#lettinggoisnotgivingup
